
OVER VIEW OF THE CENTRAL LIBRARY
The Central Library located at Prasanthi Nilayam was inaugurated in 1985 with initial collection 15,000 volumes. The Library is located in a large multi-storeyed building on the sprawling lawns of the 20 acres land, over-looking the main avenue as we enter the campus.
The building with a Basement Hall, Ist floor, IInd floor and IIIrd floor – houses nearly 60,000 volumes for the benefit of the students who have joined undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Besides this each of the other campuses (Whitefield Campus, Bangalore and Anantapur Campus, Anantapur) hold approx 40,000 and 50,000 volumes respectively in each of their campus library facility.
The Central Library receives about 150 current periodicals of both National and International publications covering most disciplines and has a good collection of the back volumes of the Journals. In addition – there are Special collection of books offered by the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations of National and International level. Both spiritual as well as scientific collections are offered by the eminent spiritualists and scientists around the world. There are also Palm-leaf and Paper manuscripts in the library.
TOEFL cassettes along with books are available in the reference section for those appearing the GRE as well as TOFEL Examinations. Audio, Video and CD ROM collection are preserved in safe custody. Theses, Dissertations, Quick Reference Books and Non –Book Materials including maps are also issued to the users on request.

- Notifications of the latest books being published or displayed in the Notice Board.
- The details of the articles published in the well reputed journals are entered into the computer and queries are entertained on request by users.
- Readers are kept informed about the forthcoming National and International Conferences.

LIBRARY SOFTWARE AND COMPUTERIZATION:
In its pursuit of modernization plan with special focus on library computerization, strengthening of computer infrastructure has already taken place. The database has been created using the Opensource KOHA package and 75% of the catalogued books have been computerized under KOHA format.
Internet browsing facility is also available during the Central library working hours for the students and staff to access the Internet in completion of their research needs and projects.
